Daily Design: Day 324

Daily Design is a series of game concepts devised daily through all of 2016. These are just basic concepts, designed based on randomly generated words. Today, they are;

Lighter, Dodge and Wetting. 

As such, the game I’ve designed today is…

Dehydration

In Dehydration, one team is tasked with lighting candle located at the far end of where they begin, while the other team attempts to stop them with water guns and water bombs.

The “fire” team can move quite quickly, but can’t defend themselves very well, since all they have is a lighter. They can set fire to various props (curtains, trees, etc) which the “water” team will have to avoid or extinguish, but can’t do much when confronted. As such, they’re best played by stealthy and clever players who are more likely to utilise stealth and set traps for opponents.

The water team is more upfront about their methods, and can run in guns blazing, so to speak. If they hit a lighter with their water gun, the fire player is eliminated. Similarly, water players can also fill up and use water bombs, though filling one takes time and carrying them slows the player down dramatically.

It’s asymmetrical multiplayer in which one team is more stealth and trap reliant – so it’s sort of like a goofier version of Splinter Cell’s multiplayer, which can only be a good thing.
