Daily Design: Day 307
Daily Design is a series of game concepts devised daily through all of 2016. These are just basic concepts, designed based on randomly generated words. Today, they are;
Tailing, Scenario and Environment.
As such, the game I’ve designed today is…
Shadow People is a multiplayer game about trying to stealthily follow another player back to their home. The game can be played by 2 players, each of which is in first-person.
One player is simply tasked with getting home safely, without being followed. They can only walk and point – if they point at the player that’s following them, that player is eliminated from the game. However, they can only point once every several seconds, so it should be used sparingly.
The second player is shown what the first looks like, and has to find and then follow them without being seen. They simply have to try and blend into the crowd or take alternate routes to follow the first players.
The first player wins if they reach their home and enter the door, and the other player doesn’t enter for ten seconds. They’re not notified when the first player makes it home, so keeping an eye on them is essential.
Finally, the game is set in a modern city, so there are plenty of people to blend in with and a myriad of hiding spots.
Its also worth mentioning that the subject matter is a little “iffy”, to put it mildly. It’s probably a good idea to change the story somewhat – have them as two opposing spies, or something – just to make it a little less controversial.
That’s it! Thanks for reading. Again, today’s post was written on my phone, so there may be weird errors that I can’t see well. I’ll be back tomorrow with another quick game concept!
