Daily Design: Day 295
Daily Design is a series of game concepts devised daily through all of 2016. These are just basic concepts, designed based on randomly generated words. Today, they are;
Height, Bean and Tiptoe.
As such, the game I’ve designed today is…
Bean Pole is a game about balancing on a tightrope, only with a bean instead of a person, because sometimes fitting the randomly generated words into a game idea is harder than I’d like.
Designed for any 2-handed peripheral (Wii Motes, PS Move, so on), the game is also heavily invested into anything that’s VR-compatible, meaning that it wouldn’t exactly be cheap to play.
Players take the role of their selected Bean (Kidney, Aduki, Mung, so on) and try to walk a tightrope of their selected difficulty. Players do this by raising or lowering the appropriate peripheral to try and stay balanced.
If they fall, they experience the whole thing in VR – or in plainer terms, they vomit uncontrollably. Players can then restart or try a different tightrope or bean. Different beans have different weights, and different difficulty levels have longer ropes or other effects, like gusts of wind.
That’s it! Thanks for reading. I’m out of state for the next fortnight, so while I’ll make a post each day, it’s hard to say how much time I’ll have per day to do so. I’ll be back tomorrow with another quick game concept.
