Daily Design: Day 284

Daily Design is a series of game concepts devised daily through all of 2016. These are just basic concepts, designed based on randomly generated words. Today, they are;

Indictment, Restart and Daily. 

As such, the game I’ve designed today is…

Indictment Ingemination


Indictment Ingemination is best thought of as Groundhog Day meets, uh, being arrested.

The protagonist wakes up the earliest hours of the morning at the scene of a horribly violent crime. Predictably Unfortunately, they have no memory of what happened. It’s their job to figure out what the story is and prove that they’re innocent in the process, all while the police (and a shadowy organisation) track them down.

This is impossible to do, and the protagonist inevitably finds themselves either arrested or killed. Luckily(?) they wake up at the crime scene again and repeat their day.

Each time, the player can uncover new clues and pieces of evidence, though all items they collect are lost at the end of each day. Players have access to a “Mind Map”, which works as a kind of mental notebook that tracks all of the clues they’ve found. These can be pinned to each other to unlock new theories on what’s happened.

The game is a point’n’click adventure with a heavy emphasis on puzzle solving and decision-making. It’s almost Shadow of Memories (which is amazing and you should go play it) meets Majora’s Mask (which is also amazing and you should play that afterwards).
