Daily Design: Day 248
Daily Design is a series of game concepts devised daily through all of 2016. These are just basic concepts, designed based on randomly generated words. Today, they are;
Truck, Tennis and Out.
As such, the game I’ve designed today is…
Frig Fault is a game about playing gigantic tennis with trucks instead of rackets. It’s a
rip off of Rocket League completely original idea, as far as I can tell.
It’s fairly straightforward, as far as truck-powered sports go. Players drive around their side of the (massive) tennis court with traditional driving controls. They also have a button dedicated to making them launch directly into the air, and another for boosting, though unlike Rocket League these can’t be used in conjunction.
Instead, the ball is hit by swinging the back of the track forward, like a racket. Holding down a trigger (or key) allows the analogue stick (or WASD) to control the back of the truck rather than the front, letting players slap whatever the hell they want (hopefully the ball).
The game is mostly designed for doubles truck tennis, rather than singles, because the havoc of managing trucks on a court is about 90% of the fun. Typical tennis rules apply, excepting the “no trucks on the court” rule.
That’s it! Thanks for reading. I’ll be back tomorrow with another quick game concept.
