Daily Design: Day 130
Daily Design is a series of game concepts devised daily through all of 2016. These are just basic concepts, designed based on three randomly generated words. Today, they are;
Fence, Joining and Seal.
As such, the game I’ve designed today is…
On the Fence
On the Fence is a small scale casual singleplayer puzzle game.
In the game, players are tasked with sealing in sections of their garden using fences. Unfortunately, they can’t afford to buy any new fence sections, which means they have to take existing sections of the fence and move them.
The game is played from a top-down perspective, and fences are moved by clicking (or tapping) and dragging them into a new position. Tapping once on a fence will rotate it, but the real challenge comes from the fact that players have a limited number of moves in each level.
For reference, look at this image;
In the above image, the puzzle is to move a single matchstick in order to make the solution true. While this isn’t exactly how On the Fence works, it’s close enough that it should give you a good understanding.
One key difference is that the goal of this game is to seal in certain areas, rather than creating equations or images. There are also multiple levels, each with a different layout and number of available moves.
That’s it! Thanks for reading. I’ll be back tomorrow with another quick game concept.
