Daily Design: Day 11
Daily Design is a series of game concepts devised daily through all of 2016. These are just basic concepts, designed based on three randomly generated words. Today, they are;
Humid, Beard and Flytrap.
As such, the game I’ve designed today is…
In Close Shave, players take the role of an eccentric man who uses his beard to catch and eat flies in the jungle.
It’s a small and very simple game. At the bottom of the screen sits the beard, and players tilt their phones in order to make it slide side-to-side and catch flies.
As they do, players earn wings, which can be used to upgrade the beard in various ways. These include growing spoilers to improve aerodynamics, or adding extra tendrils to catch flies at a distance.
There are also different types of fly, such as the Horn Fly that attracts other flies (and as such, should be kept free as long as possible in order to gather flies to a single spot) or the very fast-moving Horse Fly. Knowing which flies to prioritize can be the difference between victory and defeat.
That’s it! Thanks for reading. Check back tomorrow for more. For the next couple of weeks these posts are going to stay on the short side, as I don’t often have access to a computer, but there’ll still be one every day.
